Peter Duck offers a very comprehensive service to both buyer and seller. When we accept vessels for sale the preliminary details are usually placed on our web site within 24 hours. A full and comprehensive description supported with an album of quality photographs is compiled, placed on our site and widely circulated within 48 hours.
Financial Safety — All clients monies are held in a dedicated clients account. We have full Insurance and work strictly in accordance with The British Marine Federation Code of Practise for yacht brokers.
Peter Duck will traditionally market your boat for you, we will find the buyer, visit the boat with him and negotiate on your behalf. We will draw up the sales contract, and secure the deposit. We will help arrange access for surveyors and marine engineers wanting to survey your craft. We will attend to the registration details, Bills of sale and the important transfer of ownership. This is the major task for a broker; bringing both parties together and ensuring there are no loose ends. It can be a time consuming, lengthy and frustrating process, which is why commissions can sometimes appear to be high.
We have an alternative to the traditional way, which will suit some but not all. For a fixed fee we will visit your boat, take the photos and write a report for the sale particulars, we can advise on the best way to prepare it for your sale. Or you can provide your own photographs and write your own specification which can be very cost effective. We will then advertise your boat on our site and on Internet. The big difference is that the contact name on the details will be yours, the potential buyer will contact you and it will be up to you to arrange a mutually convenient time to view your boat. When the sale materialises we will send you a contract for you and your customer to sign and supply all necessary paperwork. This method of marketing your boat saves you a great deal of money. Your vessel is not tied up in a boat dealer’s lot for months on end depriving you of its use. You are in control of the sale process all of the time. If you think this method suits you best please contact us.
At all times we offer a friendly but professional service with an old fashioned approach to sales and customer service. The Peter Duck office is located by the waterside at Brundall in Norfolk, probably the best boating centre in Eastern England.
With the exception of fixed fee marketing the commission fees are retained from the sale proceeds and are only payable after the sale of the vessel is completed. We have no other brokerage charges unless otherwise agreed. To put it very simply: no sale—no fee.
Peter Duck acts as Yacht brokers only. Unless stated otherwise, in the craft details for individual boats, the vendors are not selling in the course of their business.
Whilst every care has been taken in their preparation, the correctness of particulars of boats offered on this web site is not guaranteed. The particulars are intended only as a guide and they do not constitute a term of any contract. A prospective buyer is strongly advised to check the particulars and where appropriate employ a qualified marine surveyor and where appropriate a marine engineer at his or hers own expense to undertake a full survey and conduct engine trials.
